Tee Off For Tots 2011
Dear Friends and Community Partners,
This time each year the Proctor Dealerships, along with the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Foundation, embark on a community wide effort to increase awareness of juvenile diabetes. Diabetes has touched most our lives in some way, whether you experience the challenges of living with diabetes yourself or support a family member or friend. The TMH Foundation's annual Tee Off for Tots event directly supports the Proctor Endowment for Children with Diabetes.
The Proctor Endowment for Children with Diabetes has made a tremendous difference in the lives of children with diabetes in our community, and in surrounding communities, for the past 10 years. Through the endowment, over 600 children with diabetes have received diabetes education and support from the time of diagnosis in the hospital through the transitions to home, school, and the rest of their lives. The pediatric team at the TMH Diabetes Center has been trained in the latest education and management skills for working with youth with diabetes, and that team, in turn, trains and supports local and regional school systems in this state-of-the-art care - all through funding generated by the Proctor Endowment.
Over the past 10 years there ha
s been incredible outreach. Thanks to the Proctor Endowment, over 365 children with diabetes have attended diabetes camp. Many of those children had never gone to camp before for a variety of reasons - one being parental fear of camping venues that did not have staff qualified to take care of a child with diabetes. Over this same period of time 185 families of children with diabetes have attended the TMH Diabetes Center Family Weekend. This program has helped connect children, siblings, parents, and grandparents to others sharing similar challenges with diabetes. Through the Family Weekend many have formed lasting supportive relationships. These programs simply would not have been possible without the generous funding and support of the Proctor Endowment. The benefits to those whose lives have been touched and positively influenced by these programs will reach far into future generations.
On behalf of the entire Proctor Dealerships family and the TMH Foundation, we ask for your support and cordially invite you to join us for dinner at our annual Tee Off for Tots Carnival celebration Sunday, October 23rd at Proctor Subaru, with festivities beginning at 6:00pm. Donation tickets for the event are $75 each and can be purchased at the cashier desks of Proctor Honda, Proctor Acura and Proctor Subaru or by contacting my office at 850.574.6600 ex.383 or daryl_green@proctorcars.com . This year, tickets enter you into a drawing for a 2011 Honda CR-V EX, to be awarded at 7:30pm during the Carnival. There are limited tickets available, so please contact us and help support this wonderful cause.
